To accomplish its mission, Milwaukee AHEC partners with community organizations with funding provided through the Model AHEC program.
• 34 dental students provided 2,600 dental services at Madre Angela Dental Clinic; • 309 pediatric residents, interns and other medical students received training on delivering care to vulnerable pediatric populations at the Medical College of Wisconsin; • 62 nursing and dental hygiene students provided health care to 969 Hispanics at El Centro de Salud; • 758 clinical/educational hours were provided to 34 nursing students at community outreach health clinics; • Over 3,000 students, teachers, counselors, and administrators were contacted through nursing recruitment outreach events at Marquette University; • 900 K-5th grade students were given education and/or primary care and preventive health services by 22 nursing students in the Forest Home Avenue School community where approximately 90% of families have either no insurance or are T-19 recipients; • 16 nursing students gained experience working with diverse ethnic and economic groups at Columbia St. Mary's Adult Learning Center; • 50 high school students worked alongside college health professions students and clinical volunteers in a cost-effective model of providing compassionate care for vulnerable populations through the City on a Hill's Tiered Mentoring Project; • 33 Doctoral and Masters degree candidates served as InHealth mentors to 50 high school students in high risk populations, providing training on depression education and peer health advisor opportunities.
