Topic: Common Scams and Frauds Targeting Seniors
The Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Protection will discuss the details of common scams that target seniors, the warning signs of a scam, and what to do if you or someone you know falls victim to a scam or fraud. Helpful factsheets from The Bureau of Consumer Protection will be available. As Wisconsin’s lead agency for consumer protection, the Bureau of Consumer Protection at the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection, provides information and education, mediates complaints, investigates cases, and takes enforcement actions to fight fraudulent and deceptive practices that harm consumers and honest businesses.

Topic: Compassion Fatigue
Join us for an insightful session designed to support helping professionals in recognizing, understanding, and addressing compassion fatigue (CF). Together, we’ll explore what CF is, identify its signs and symptoms, and examine how systems and structures can contribute to it. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on personal experiences, normalize the emotional impact of caregiving roles, and practice practical self‑care strategies to reduce CF and prevent burnout.
The session will also include simple mindfulness activities you can use both at work and at home to stay grounded, healthy, and resilient.

Topic: Introduction to Motivational Interviewing
Discover the foundations of Motivational Interviewing (MI), a collaborative and person‑centered communication style that helps individuals explore and strengthen their own motivation for change. This introductory session will highlight the core principles of MI, demonstrate practical techniques, and offer simple strategies you can begin using right away to foster meaningful, empowering conversations.

Topic: Culturally Responsive Mental Health Motivational Interviewing
Explore how Motivational Interviewing (MI) can be practiced through a culturally responsive lens to better support diverse individuals and communities. This session introduces the foundations of MI while highlighting the importance of cultural humility, identity awareness, and inclusive communication. Participants will learn how to build trust, honor lived experiences, and adapt MI strategies to meet people where they are—strengthening connection, collaboration, and meaningful change.
