Community Health Worker Training

Community Health Worker Training (CHW)

  • Recognizing that there is a need for community health workers to serve as a “bridge” between community members and the health care delivery system, Milwaukee AHEC launched the Community Health Worker Training Program in 2010, a 100-hour training program where participants learn concepts and principles of basic public health care, including health promotion and maintenance, chronic disease prevention, and self-care management at the community level. Participants engage in experiential learning tasks trough volunteering and group activities, participate in self-study, group project presentations and employment planning and coaching.

Upcoming Training Dates

  • Spring 2020 Session has been postponed as a safety precaution due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are monitoring the situation and will set a new date as soon as possible.
