In the summer of 2022, I had an opportunity to take part in a summer internship with Milwaukee AHEC, an organization that was unknown to me. Although I rarely take risks in trying something new, I decided to take a leap of faith and Milwaukee AHEC did not disappoint me. #AHECPROUD
In the two months that I had with Milwaukee AHEC, they had impacted my life by allowing me to connect with various professions, learn more about different organizations, and taught me the importance of giving back to my community.
The one thing that I loved about Milwaukee AHEC were the people and how willing they were to treat you as a family member. They did not see color, status, or gender, they saw one goal and that is to increase the diversity and distribution of health professionals aiming to improve the health outcomes in Southeastern Wisconsin. Thanks to Milwaukee AHEC I feel much better about tackling the healthcare system and I look forward to working with them in the near future.
